How does Hot Temperatures, Rain and Sunlight affect swimming pools.
The hottest and most humid days of the year are coming. Record temperatures have been recorded in September. Swimming in your pool is a sure way to cool off and have fun.
Facts:
1- High heat can impact chlorine levels and cause water problems.
2- Sunlight causes chlorine to break down rapidly.
3- High Heat encourages algae to grow, causing chlorine to work harder and depleting quickly.
4- Rainy Summer Days can wreak havoc on water chemistry. Rain is acidic, rain can lower the pH in water. Low or high pH can cause chlorine to be used quicker allowing Algae to bloom.
Solutions:
1- Make sure your pool has proper levels of stabilizer of at least 60 ppm at all times. Stabilizer helps chlorine last longer.
2- Shock ( Super chlorinating) your pool at least twice a month to kill Bacteria and Algae. Keep Free available chlorine levels between 1-4 ppm.
3- Apply Algaecide to prevent and kill Algae. In some cases Algae can and will bloom with chlorine present in the pool.
4- Be sure your pool circulate 8-12 hours a day during these hot and rainy days.
